If you’ve ever had your internet disconnect in the middle of streaming your screen or game on Discord, there’s a simple option buried in Discord’s settings that may solve your problem. For some reason, a setting where Discord admits “some routers or internet service providers may misbehave when this is set” is enabled by default. In this guide, we’ll show you how to turn it off.
My internet gets randomly and completely disconnected during Discord streaming. This happens pretty much every time I’m sharing my screen with a friend or friends via Discord.
Open Discord’s settings by clicking on the cogwheel toward the bottom left of the window.
Now, navigate to “Voice & Video” under the “App Settings” section. Once there, scroll down part way to find “Enable Quality of Service High Packet Priority.” Toggle this setting off, and then you can close the settings menu to save your changes.
Some routers just don’t like having Discord prioritize its packets over the rest of the network traffic. Disabling this setting should get Discord and your internet connection playing nicely again .
